Hello and welcome,
I am showing work in the Whicita National Pastel Show. Please check in on my Art Showings for more information. My painting titled "Waiting for Him" is one of the peices on display.
I took a very good mixed media class at the Kansas City Art Institue taught by Linda Light. I learn to make paper using a messy mix of acrylic and sponging. I had a lot of fun making the paper, deconstructing it, and minipulating it into different images. I have a fondness for this piece. It was one of my first projects after taking the class and I titled it "Garden Lanterns". It is currently being shown at the 1109 Gallery in Lawrence.
I was recently reading an article, in one of my many art magazines, about an artist who painted the same image 100 times.
I was inspired to attempt a similar project and decided to complete 30 paintings of the same subject. My hope is that this will allow me to experiment with different colors and textures. Since I will have limited time for each piece, it will also teach me to not to excessively fuss with the details. I have been posing the results on Facebook and invite you to follow along.
Some of my most recent work draws its inspiration form my family life. I am always amazed and surprised by the beautiful moments that are presented.
The inspiration for this painting came from my daughter dancing with her shadow in the morning sun. I wanted to capture the innocence and childish fun of dancing with an imaginary partner. The title of this painting is
“Shadow Dancer”.
It was date night. While waiting for my husband when I spied a reflection of myself in the glass door of our fire place. I created this painting to show the intriguing shadows and the circular flow between my foot and hand. I have titled this piece
“Waiting for Him”.
